CV

My work is a hybrid of contemporary forms: performance, site-specific sculpture, installation art, found-object assemblage, fetish object, mixed-media and book arts. I unify these various disciplines in an alchemical process in which I stitch disparate parts together that seem unrelated, working towards an intuitive reunion of lost meaning.

I am a collector and maker of objects that bear witness to specific moments and the passing of time. I make a physical connection with these objects through which I am able to return to a particular memory or state of being. I reframe discarded objects by personalizing them, constantly changing their contexts, expanding their utility, and building on their multiple meanings. My work is steeped in earth-based ritual and contemplative practice. Through intuition and improvisation I create sacred sites and objects that act as divining tools to awaken the senses and reveal symbolic language.

I have evolved as a performer simultaneous to my visual art practice. I currently perform with and create installations, props and characters for the critically acclaimed, contemporary circus company, Circo Zero (www.circozero.org), directed by internationally renowned performer and director Keith Hennessy. I have performed solo and in group performances at Oakland Museum of California, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Yerba Buena Gardens, SOMARTS, Dance Mission, ODC, Theater Artaud, The SF Butoh Festival, and SF International Arts Festival.
