Jethro Patalinghug is a Filipino non-binary multidisciplinary artist and queer immigrant activist based in San Francisco, Bay Area. They are a fellow for the DOCNY’s Storytelling Incubator 2022 and as well as Film Independent's CNN Docu-Series Intensive for the film The Long Rescue. Their first feature documentary film 50 Years of Fabulous was the opening film at QDocs 2018 Film Festival and an official selection to Frameline42. Jethro was a fellow for BVAC’s National Media Maker 2016 for his documentary film #MyNameIs. They were the featured filmmaker for APAture 2015, the oldest Asian American Arts Collective Festival in the US. They served as the Associate Creative Director of Filipino Arts Cinema International from 2018 to 2021. They currently serve as one of board of directors for the GLBTQ+ Asian Pacific Alliance (GAPA) and OAKLASH. Jethro is also known as the drag persona “Virginia Please” on TikTok and teaches queer and trans representation. They had their first solo show Be Jeweled: A Glimpse Into Drag Activism, comprised of an immersive art experience, film screening and community conversation held at the Queer Healing Arts Center in Oakland. Jethro is finishing their MFA in Studio Arts at Maryland Institute College of Art.
